No you cant, but you can contact the admin or mod of mySpace and ask them to reset your password. Im sure they have a "secret question" option to retrieve it. Or just contact them via telephone and ask them to reset it for you. You cant hack into someone else's myspace. Two wrongs dont make a right and its illegal.

There is not any way to trace them unless they committed some crime with your account. If that is the case, you could subpoena MySpace to provide the internet address of the computer that accessed your account. If not, you're stuck.

Guessing someone's password is not hacking, it is guessing someone's password. Or, if as you say, your password was not easy to figure out, they may have gotten it from somewhere else. If you use the password for lots of different things, or ever told anyone any information about it, they could get it.

Or, if your password is a word or phrase that means something to you, if they saw you typing it in they could probably figure out what it was by seeing some of the letters you were hitting and how long it was.

The only safe password is a random sequence of lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols. You should never share it with anyone.

Well, you don't say you know how he did this, but certainly issues arise of impersonation (perhaps of a minor), and certainly DMCA is in play (see chillingeffects.org).

Otoh, how about teaching your son to use proper secure passwords, to not share them, and to not sign up for sites where the TOS says 14 and up only please (both of the suites you mentioned, for example!)

Legally they can do it, morally, that just depends on the reason they don't trust you. Why are they doing this? Did you get caught doing something? If yes they are probably trying to protect you from whatever this is, or prevent you from doing it again. Most parents have their children's best interest in mind when they do things like this. When i got in, there were about 20 messages between them. He invited her to his house to drink with just him and spend the night. I know that after 3 months it can seem like your relationship is pretty serious (I've been there too) but in reality a 3 month relationship is just a baby! You guys haven't had time to establish true trust with one another.... Hell it took me and my current boyfriend atlest 6 months! I've been involved in a similar situation. I didn't spy on her, but she did meet someone online behind my back and then confronted me trying to make it my problem. While I don't think you should have spied on her, I also don't think she should have fooled around behind your back.

I'd say cut your losses and move on. It's only been 3 months and the longer you wait, the more hurt you'll probably get. If this type of problem is occuring this early in the relationship, then it doesn't stand a good chance at succeeding. You just can't form love without trust or respect and you certainly can't communicate without honesty.

If you know the email address he used to sign up with myspace and you know how to get into that email account, you can go on myspace and request that his myspace password be sent to his email account. If you don't know the email address he used but you know his email addresses, then just keep putting them in until one works. But if you can't get into the email, that will not help you. Or you can just keep trying to guess the password. That's usually fruitless, though.

And in reference to the hacking, be really careful where you "Log-in" to myspace. There are many evil tricks and fake websites that make you log-in again and they steal your password. About 2 months ago someone hacked into my yahoo email and changed my password. I tried contacting yahoo to get it straightened out but they wouldnt help me. I just found out yesterday who did it. They get your passwords, a snapshot of your pages visited and what you were typing at any given time, or actually they can set it up so the software will start recording when you enter a particular word (say 'boyfriend', 'address', 'parent', etc).

If you are 21, then I would advise you to go to the library and just change your passwords to any site you had visited. And if you are not 21, you should not be typing anything anyway that an adult would question...
