Whats up with all this myspace hacking?

ok a lot of my friends have been getting their profiles hacked into and they are sending people links to porn and stuff in bullitins.. so do you know why this is happening? and how can i prevent my profile from being hacked into? if you want to check it out its, www.myspace.com/klinkerbell

Whats up with all this myspace hacking?

The people on Myspace are easy prey for phishers and hackers. Most often times when people get their accounts "hacked" it's their own fault. When you click on the links in the bulletins that they post it will often lead to a site that looks and acts like myspace and will ask for a person's username and password. If you type it in it obviously gives the "hacker" or "phisher" your info so they can get into your account.

The only way to really avoid it is to always make sure that the url of the site you are putting your info into is myspace.com.

If your account gets hacked all you need to do is change your password and you'll be left alone.

Its simple to sell stuff.. ad companies are doing this. They see myspace as a prime way to get traffic to websites. You can prevent this from happening by looking for "login" in the URL. You can also get a phishing filter from Microsoft Internet explorer. Its not really hacking.. people are actually putting their info into a fake myspace look alike. If the myspace page doesn't look quite right to you then don't put your info into it and check the URL. A phishing filter will help you determine the validly of any URL or website.

make sure you always check your web browser and make sure it saids www.myspace.com

sometimes when you press something it goes straight to a page where it looks like you logged out of myspace but you didn't its a hacker page and it usually has something different in the web browser address..sometimes it has www.1myspace.com or something like that.

every time when you see a page that saids you logged out go to your web browser addess bar and put in www.myspace.com

Eh. Those people have no life :/

You can`t really keep your profile from getting hacked into.

Never give out your email or password, and try not to piss off ex-boyfriends. LMAO trust me ;]

Whats up with all this myspace hacking?

it's happened to all my friends almost.

they hack in by figuring out the password by some sort of software. my question is how do they figure out your email?? becasue it could be anything.

anyway, you can protect yourself by making your password more complicated. make sure it has at least one capital letter and and at least one number, plus it shouldn't be less than 6 characters all together to make it safer but it can still be something easy to remember if you make it something related to you. but never use your first or last name.

Whats up with all this myspace hacking?

The same has been happening to me. The reason that this is occurring can be attributed to fake MySpace log-in pages. One can be made easily, that is not the official MySpace log-in site. You can tell that it's not a real MySpace page by looking at the URL. When a person accidentally logs in to a fake MySpace page, their e-mail and passwords are stored in a large database that uses their accounts as a way to spam and advertise, without the user knowing it. This is called phishing. To prevent this from happening with your MySpace profile, always check the URL at the top when you are prompted to log in, if it says something other than www.myspace.com or www.login.myspace.com, manually type in the correct URL again. If this has already happenned to your profile (you can notify your friends), change your MySpace password as well as the password of the e-mail address you use for MySpace. You must do so as soon as possible, and the passwords MUST be different or else you run the risk of having your e-mail hacked into as well.

Hope this helped.

I agree with the other answer. It is all sexbots and company's doing this.I removed myself from myspace because someone had sent me a invite to be there friend. It was a sexbot but when i clicked the profile to read the profile it installed 7 virus on my computer and i had to wipe it clean erase everything just to get my PC back,So if myspace can not clean it up i will not be back and i loved it but not worth it for that crap
