My friends mom can hack into my page!? How can I stop it?

I am 21. I have a myspace profile and a blog somewhere else. My friends mom told me today that she had enough information about me to get my passwords through a parental controls program. Is this possible? I am over the age for needing parental control and therefore I do not think that it is any of her business. Is there a way that I can stop this invasion of privacy?

And if you're not a minor, then it's none of hers or anyone else's business what you do or don't. Weird that she wants your passwords, for what? To change the content of your page? Identity theft? Just ignore her. If she does get your password, then it's a crime, invasion of privacy. Gather the evidence. And let her deal with the consequences.

Are you using her computer? It is possible she has some control software that tracks keys and such. Really can't do much about that.

Use your own computer, change your passwords, you should be fine.

She is trying to scare you. I would ask to see some proof of this because it sounds like a load.

Whose idea was it to hack into your pages? Ask that question and you will know the source of yor problems. And please learn an important lesson from this: you must assume that the informastion you freely provide about yourself is up for grabs on the internet. Most sights can be hacked into by someone who is motivated and has the knowledge to do so. My son is a wiz at some of this and knows people who can to it if I ever need that (doubtful I would, but it does say something about the security of most sights).

If somebody have physical access to the computer you are using, specially with administrator privileges (which your friend's mom should), they can install a parental control software, which basically acts as if someone was over your shoulder. They get your passwords, a snapshot of your pages visited and what you were typing at any given time, or actually they can set it up so the software will start recording when you enter a particular word (say 'boyfriend', 'address', 'parent', etc).

If you are 21, then I would advise you to go to the library and just change your passwords to any site you had visited. And if you are not 21, you should not be typing anything anyway that an adult would question...

hacking is a cyber-crime and is acknowledged as such in many countries including India. If u live in a country where it is designated as cyber-crime, u could lodge a complaint wityh the police. that should ensure that at least the person whom u r suspecting does not dare to do so.

If it's her computer and Internet bill that only she owns (that is, your name is NOT on the bill and you didn't pay for the computer), under the law she can control, record all keystrokes, web cam pictures, etc. to protect her computer and internet bill from any illegal use or misuse. No matter what age you are. It is HER computer and HER phone/cable/satellite bill. Even if you didn't do anything illegal, it is still legal for her to protect her finances and computer equipment 24 hours a day, if she so wishes.

Not much you can do except use your own computer and your own Internet service that you pay for and have full control over.

If you use someone else's Internet service that they pay for every month, they have every right to protect their credit report, possible increase in billing expenses, any possible future suing in court, etc. Whether it be intentional or unintentional.

Now if it's your computer and Internet bill (that doesn't have her name on it), then put a password on your computer and lock her out.

Your local library does the same thing, they record all keystrokes, webcam shots, surfing habits, etc to protect themselves from people racking up huge bills or doing illegal stuff on their computer and Internet Service that ONLY THEY pay for.

If you went into HER house and used HER computer and HER internet bill, then she can record anything she wants.

If you want to prevent this from happening again, use your own computer and pay for your own Internet.
