Is it normal to have a page pop up and ask me for my password to protect my account?

I had a page pop up and ask me for my password again, even after I was logged in, it said it was to protect my account. Someone hacked into my myspace account that way.

It depends on the website, if it is a website like Yahoo! Accounts, then yes, it's normal even if you had just logged in. Also, if you go to a Yahoo page, and then it says "Please enter your password".. that only really happens if you had been away from Yahoo for at least 15 minutes, but you can set it to 24 hours if you want. I hope this helped.

I don't think so. yahoo! has never had a pop up come up to ask for the password so I wouldn't trust it. Don't enter your password unless it is an actual Yahoo! page, like your mail, or your yahoo.

no this is not normal. If someone or something pops up and asked for your password you should exit out of it. They are just trying to get all of your information. So if I were you i would stay away from pops ups.

Put in the wrong password and see what happens. if it's a phishing attempt, it may accept the password just to get more information from you. But you will then know it's a phony pop up.

However, you will have to start all over, perhaps, to access your previous site.

You just answered your own question; you got invaded. Yes, it does happen legitimately, but we need to be sure that it really is, for example, Yahoo before we type. Yahoo and Firefox 2 both have anti-phishing technology to help prevent this.

I once got nailed when a pop up blared out, "Your computer has just been invaded by a virus. Click here to protect yourself. " I clicked. Only THEN was I invaded. Funny story now. Back then a real PITA%26gt; Good luck.
